  • How to Catch Animon in LumenTale: Bilia, Holoken & Catch Rates

Catching is the heart of LumenTale: Memories of Trey — you build your team by capturing wild Animon out in Talea with your Holoken. There are two very different ways to do it, and picking the right one (and the right Bilia) makes the difference between a clean catch and a wasted encounter.

The two ways to catch an Animon

    1. Bilia Mode — catch it in the field

With the Holoken you can aim and throw a Bilia straight at a wild Animon in the overworld, no battle required. Land the throw and a quick QTE (quick-time event) begins — succeed at it and the Animon is yours. The better you get at the QTE, the higher your catch rate climbs, so this method rewards practice. Take your time aiming before you toss.

    2. Animon Mode — weaken it in battle first

Hitting a wild Animon in Animon Mode starts a battle where you have the advantage — especially if you lead with an Animon whose type is strong against it. In battle, the core rule is simple: the lower the target’s HP, the higher your catch chance. Whittle it down (without knocking it out) and then attempt the capture.

    Use the right Bilia

Bilias come in different kinds, and choosing the one that best fits the Animon you’re after maximizes your odds. Matching your Bilia to the target is one of the easiest ways to stop losing catches you should have made.

    Read the Animon’s behavior

Not every Animon reacts the same way when it spots you. Some stay calm and are easy to approach for a clean Bilia throw; others are aggressive and will chase you on sight, which can force a battle. Knowing a species’ temperament helps you decide whether to go for a field catch or set up an Animon Mode ambush.

Quick tips for a higher catch rate

    • Weaken, don’t defeat. In battle, low HP boosts catch rate — but a knocked-out Animon can’t be caught.
    • Bring a type advantage into Animon Mode so you control the fight and can safely chip HP down.
    • Match your Bilia to the target for the best odds.
    • Practice the QTE — field catches get more reliable the better your timing.
    • Aim first. The Holoken lets you line up the throw before you commit.

Once you’ve caught something new, check its stats, type and Attribute on its page in the Animon Dex, and see how it grows in our evolution guide. New to the game? Start with the Beginner’s Guide.

    Frequently asked questions

What’s the fastest way to catch Animon?

For calm, low-level Animon, a well-aimed Bilia throw in the field (Bilia Mode) is quickest. For tougher or aggressive ones, Animon Mode — weakening them in a battle you control — gives the most reliable catch.

Does lowering HP increase catch rate?

Yes. In battle, reducing an Animon’s HP substantially increases your catch chance. Just be careful not to defeat it.

Does the type of Bilia matter?

It does. Different Bilias suit different Animon, and choosing the most fitting one maximizes your chance of a successful catch.

  • LumenTale Attributes Explained: All 5 Animon Attributes & Their Effects

Every Animon in LumenTale: Memories of Trey has one of five Attributes — Felicis, Mestus, Furor, Horrens and Sereum. Types decide what your Animon is strong and weak against; Attributes are a separate layer that gives each Animon a powerful, manually-activated battle bonus. Learn to read and time them and your fights get a lot easier.

In the story, an Attribute represents the emotion an Animon stirs in the people who see it. In battle, it is a tactical trigger you fire on your own terms.

    How Attributes work in battle

An Attribute bonus is not automatic. You choose when to activate it when you attack — look for the Attribute icon next to your skill list during battle, or check an Animon’s info screen out of battle to see which one it has. Because you decide the moment, the skill is in knowing when a trigger is worth it.

All 5 Animon Attributes and their effects

    AttributeBattle effect
FelicisAfter attacking, slightly heals the Animon’s allies.
MestusSpends a percentage of the Animon’s own HP to deal extra damage.
FurorBoosts the damage of the skill used.
HorrensIgnores the enemy’s resistance — making the next attack super effective if it would otherwise finish them.
SereumRaises critical-hit chance; every critical hit also grants one extra TP.

    When to use each Attribute

    Felicis — sustain

Free healing spread to your team every time you attack. Fantastic in long or 4v4 fights where chip healing keeps your party alive without spending a turn on recovery.

    Mestus — high-risk burst

You pay HP to hit harder. Best when you can end a threat this turn — don’t trigger it if the extra damage won’t matter, because that HP is gone either way.

    Furor — reliable damage

A clean skill-damage boost with no downside. The safe pick for pure aggression and the easiest Attribute to use well.

    Horrens — resistance breaker

Its niche is huge: it can turn a resisted hit into a super-effective, potentially lethal blow by ignoring resistance. Save it for the moment it flips a kill.

    Sereum — crits and tempo

More crits mean more damage and extra TP to power your next move. Strong on fast, offensive Animon that attack often.

    How this fits with Types

Attributes and Types are independent systems. You still want a favorable type matchup (see our Type Chart & Weakness Guide), but a well-timed Attribute can win a fight you’d otherwise lose — Horrens punching through a resistance, or Felicis out-sustaining an opponent. Check any Animon’s Attribute on its page in the Animon Dex.

    Frequently asked questions

How many Attributes are there in LumenTale?

Five: Felicis, Mestus, Furor, Horrens and Sereum. Each Animon has exactly one.

    Do Attribute bonuses trigger automatically?

No. You activate them manually when you attack, using the Attribute icon by your skill list. That control is the whole point — timing matters.

    Is one Attribute the best?

There isn’t a single best one; they suit different roles. Furor is the most consistently useful for raw damage, Felicis is the best for sustain, and Horrens is the biggest game-changer in the right moment.

Attribute details are based on the game’s mechanics as documented by community resources including Game8. If a game update changes any effect, we’ll update this guide.

  • How to Evolve Your Animon in Lumentale

⬆️ How to Evolve Your Animon in Lumentale

Lumentale uses condition-based evolution — not automatic level-ups. Here’s exactly how the system works and what you need to know to evolve your team.

    How Evolution Works

In Lumentale, Animon evolve when specific conditions are met, not just by reaching a level. There are two main evolution methods:

    • Level-based (📈): Reach a specific level with the Animon. Straightforward — just battle and gain experience.
    • Special (⭐): Meet a unique condition, such as being in a specific location, reaching a bond threshold, or choosing a story route (e.g., Mythos Route vs. Logos Route for Maidelly).

Some Animon have multiple evolution paths — the condition you meet determines which form they take. These branching evolutions are a key part of team-building strategy in Lumentale.

💡 Every Animon’s individual page on AnimonDex shows its complete evolution chain and conditions. Check before committing to a path.

    Tips for Evolving Efficiently

    • Plan your route choices early. Some branching evolutions (like Mythos vs. Logos) can’t be undone. Research both paths before choosing.
    • Level grind in weak areas. For level-based evolutions, farming easy battles is faster than struggling through tough content.
    • Location-based evolutions: Some Animon need to be in a specific area to trigger evolution — travelling to the wrong zone won’t work.
    • LCK resets on evolution. The random LCK stat (1–10) is assigned fresh to each new form. High-LCK pre-evolution Animon don’t carry it over.
    • Early access note: Lumentale is still in early access — evolution requirements may change with patches. AnimonDex is updated as new info is confirmed.

What to Look For Beyond Stats

    • AGI first: In Lumentale, the fastest Animon usually wins close matchups. Prioritize high AGI over raw attack power.
    • Hidden Types: An Animon with a hidden type can surprise opponents with unexpected resistances.
    • Evolution potential: Some weaker base-form Animon evolve into powerhouses. Check evolution chains on each Animon’s page.
    • LCK: This random stat (1–10) affects critical hits. For competitive play, recatch until you find high LCK.
  • Beginner’s Guide to Lumentale: Everything You Need to Know

    🎮 Beginner’s Guide to Lumentale

Everything you need to know about Lumentale: Memories of Trey — the Animon-collecting RPG. Learn the basics of Animon types, Attributes, combat, and how to build your team.

    What is Lumentale?

Lumentale: Memories of Trey is an Animon-collecting RPG currently in early access. You explore a vibrant world, catch creatures called Animon, battle with them, and uncover the story of a mysterious world called Lumentale. Think Pokémon meets a rich fantasy universe.

The game features 166+ Animon to collect (and growing), a deep type system with 13 types, 5 Attributes that shape each Animon’s personality and battle role, and an evolution system requiring specific conditions to unlock.

    The 5 Attributes

Every Animon has an Attribute — think of it like a personality or combat style. The five Attributes are:

    ⚡ Felicis
    Lucky, agile, high-speed fighters
    🌀 Mestus
    Balanced, adaptable all-rounders
    🔥 Furor
    Aggressive, high attack power
    💀 Horrens
    Defensive, high HP tanks
    ✨ Sereum
    Support, high special attack

    The 13 Types

Each Animon has one or two types that determine what it’s weak to and what it resists. The 13 types in Lumentale are: Aura, Chakra, Ancient, Anomalous, Data, Demon, Electric, Fire, Geo, Grass, Ice, Virus, and Water.

Unlike some games, Lumentale’s type system can include Hidden Types — a secondary type that isn’t immediately visible but affects weaknesses and resistances. For example, Puffella is Aura-type with a hidden Ice type.

💡 Tip: Always check an Animon’s full type chart before battle. A hidden Ice type can mean an unexpected weakness to Fire or Electric moves!

    How Stats Work

Each Animon has 7 base stats:

    • HP — Health points. Determines how much damage your Animon can take.
    • ATK — Physical attack power for physical moves.
    • DEF — Physical defense, reduces incoming physical damage.
    • SPA — Special Attack, used for elemental and special moves.
    • SPD — Special Defense, reduces incoming special damage.
    • AGI — Agility (Speed). Higher AGI means your Animon moves first.
    • LCK — Luck. This stat is randomly assigned per Animon (1–10) and affects critical hits and lucky events. You can’t control it — it’s part of each Animon’s personality.
💡 Tip: AGI is often the most important stat for competitive play. A faster Animon can KO the opponent before they even move.

    How Evolution Works

Most Animon evolve through specific conditions rather than just leveling up. Common evolution methods include:

    • Using an Animon’s Attribute Trait a certain number of times (e.g., “Use Felicis Trait 20 times”)
    • Reaching a specific bond or friendship level
    • Using special items
    • Performing actions in specific locations

Check each Animon’s page on AnimonDex for their specific evolution requirements. Some Animon like Dualine have special Embodiment forms with unique conditions.

    Team Building Tips

    • Build a team with type coverage — make sure you have answers to the common types you’ll face.
    • Mix Attributes: pair a high-ATK Furor with a supportive Sereum for synergy.
    • Don’t ignore Hidden Types — they add unexpected resistances that can win battles.
    • Keep one high-AGI Animon on your team to ensure you can move first in key matchups.
    • LCK is random per-catch — if you want a high-LCK version of an Animon, you may need to catch multiples and compare.

⚔️ Complete Type Chart — Lumentale

Every type’s weaknesses and resistances in Lumentale: Memories of Trey. Use this to plan your team and counter your opponents.

    How Types Work

In Lumentale, each Animon has a Primary Type and optionally a Hidden Type. When an Animon takes damage, both types are factored in — a weakness from the primary type combined with a resistance from the hidden type can cancel out to neutral (×1), while double-weakness (both types weak) results in ×4 damage.

💡 Always check the individual Animon page on AnimonDex for its exact combined type effectiveness — hidden types change everything.
